Can't really see it from the picture but it's been cut and stretched poorly with a onan tossed on it. It looked so sad that i brought it home with me.

ETA- numbers say it's a 68 raider

Sparky, i have a spare 301 i think I'll put on it if i can get the frame back close to normal. Thinking I'll see if i can trade off the onan. Don't have much of a need for one.

The guy i got it from was trying to make a puller out of it.

Jack, i'm confused too. The plate says onan. I'll investigate more tomorrow on in. Maybe someone put an onan plate on it?

Plate says n52m-ga.... looks like it's the type that came on the sears GTs back in the day. A 19.9hp

Actually, the pictures are a little fuzzy for accurate identification.

The flywheel screens are attached differently between the Kohlers and ONANs.

There would be no logic in putting Kohler tins on an ONAN or an ONAN ID plate on a Kohler.

We do not see that model ONAN very often because they were not used on Wheel Horse.

That model ONAN was used on Craftsman and a few others.

Post a few pic of the engine, I'm interested in learning more, My sons Sears SS16 has a Onan and it still looks like a Onan, I'm not saying this is not one that is why I want more info, so I can say I learned something new today.

Looks like a 60 inch deck would fit under that with room to spare. You may have a potential mowing monster there.

Interesting how the engine is tilted. Maybe that was done to make the PTO shaft line up?

Don't know what I'm doing with the engine yet.

Leaning toward a rat or worker for this one i think.

The engine orientation is probably due to the PO's lack of fab skills.

That should be a strong engine if it is not too worn. A compression test would be in order at some point.

Rock farmer, i don't think the welds would hold up to that. And, yes they extended the steering.

Jack, I'll be sure to test compression. I think it may be in the rebuild or parts category though.

The numbers come up as sears and roper. Looked up the cost of parts and that makes me think i won't be rebuilding it.

sounds like that may be the "elusive" 52 c.i.big block that the onan guys like.you might be able to make some money from the engine if you try to sell it.
