Snowplough/dozer blade.

Recommended Posts

Stormin

I foolishly posted the rebuild of my cutter deck, in Euro introductions. I suppose that should have been in this section. If someone with better computor skills than I can do so, feel free.

I also mentioned my current project of a snowplough/dozer blade. Requests for a write up and photos followed. So progress so far.

First off I studied photos of various ploughs of various makes. Also there is no rear Tach-O-Matic on my C - 125, so one would have to be made also. Then I had a look to see what I had lying around.

Some bits of scrap plate got made into the Tach-O-Matic. No photos as yet, as it is on the tractor. I'll post some when it is removed for painting.

Some 2" pipe have supplied the frame, along with some box section, 3/4 round bar and other bits.

It appears Photobucket is playing silly beggers, so photos will be added later. Sorry.

what I like about is the round tube doesn't have all the nooks and crannies for snow to get caked into and then rust starting!

I would have a tube frame full of mud wasps for sure. :-)

Nice lookin' frame! Used some pipe and flat stock from an old Bolens for a few WH projects.

I got got a bit more done over the weekend. Curving the blade was done on a folding press, as no rollers available.

Turned out not bad.

Making the angle brackets to mount the swivel to were a bit of a pain. Sawcut, bend to shape, then weld in filler pieces. Drill necessary holes then weld on.

A bit more to do yet, but I'm getting there.

WoW! Looks great! Strong and stout! I do see one weak area you may want to beef up before much use. Where the "swivel" mounts to the frame looks just a touch weak for any heavy pushing. An added rib of steel welded down the length of the center of your top and bottom plates would add a lot of strength and prevent bending. Drilling the hole for the pivot bolt would be the hardest part! Nice work!

I agree with your comment on the swivel mount. I do intend to strengthen it. Maybe box in the sides closer to the swivel and add strips top and bottom.

Hey Stormin

This is how i did on my frame when i build it last winter, to get it stronger there ill used 5 mm steel plate there.then i put on "strips" on top and bottom of 5 mm steel.

Nice job, Lars. I've some 6x25 that I'm going to weld along each side. Top and bottom plate. I'm useing what I have lying around as much as I can. Won't be as neat as that, but will do the job. I like your spring set up.

Nearly there.

Wear blade fitted. Made in two arts as I didn't have one piece long enough.

Strengthened head. Spring maybe a bit to strong but it was lying about doing nothing.

Some shots of it pivoted.

Maybe have a trial run tomorrow then painting can commence. Pivot lever and catch release have to be made up yet, but theycan be sorted later.
