Finally got a push blower

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a nice compact push blower to help with the leaves and grass clippings. These things are usually pretty expensive. Earlier in the week I found one on Craigslist and went to see it today. Well, it starts right up, runs perfectly and blows leaves, so in the back of the truck it goes and on home. Had a little fun blowing some leaves off the front lawn already. Happy to finally have a push blower at a good price.

It's solid and the perfect size for me, as storage is limited lately! Don't even have to clean it up too much. Maybe over the summer it'll get some paint and a handle cushion.

Dont bother with paint, looks good as it is. Just get a rubber grip on it to absorb the vibrations and blow the leaves into the neighbors yard! :eusa-whistle:

Nice little blower, looks old enough to be well built, and in nice shape as well.

Plenty of info on here about what to do when that Tecumseh wont start!! :hide:

I've wanted one for years, this is going to really help get those leaves (and grass) off the yard. It was a little wet yesterday still and the little 5HP engine had plenty of oomph to get 'er done. It is old enough to be built well, and it appears to be taken care of. The chrome handle has some rust on it, I'll try to clean that up, if not I'll paint it.

That is a very nice blower you picked up Karl. I picked up a fairly new Little Wonder with a 9hp Briggs a few yrs. ago from a dealer. I walked into the store to buy something else and there it was, it didn't have a scratch on it. He said an older gent used it at his place a few times and decided he'd have a landscaping company do the leaves instead. I paid 500 for it and I felt I stole it. I live in the middle of the woods surrounded by Red Oak trees and between this blower and my Stihl BR 600 back pack blower I'm now done in no time. No more draggin tarps!

I've been contemplating grabbing a blower from the bone yard at work and mounting it on the front of my tractor and use the pto from the mower deck to power it. However we don't have many trees left by us so many someday, seems like a simple concept to retro fit tho...

Keeping with the theme of things, I took a few pictures of some of the blowers at work:

A few years ago I had an old furnace blower to hand, and considered building a frame to mount it on the front of a tractor, driving it from the PTO.

The mechanics of working out how to aim a nozzle in the right direction from the seat required more thought than I was willing to invest in the project so I never did it (bought a lawn sweeper instead...)
