jayc 0 #1 Posted September 29, 2012 Hello all, I recently rescued a D160 and a 48" snow thrower from a pasture. I fitted a cab and was down to the blower attatchment. The issue is there are some parts missing. there is an arm sticking out from the front left with a hole in it for a spring. I notice when I pull down on it the gear box and driveshaft center up nicely. Does anyone know where the other end of the spring hooks to? I see no other holes or wear marks where it may have been. Or where I can find mounting instructions for this. I feel some parts are missing and I want to bring this ole girl back to life. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

For some reason the parts lists are duplicated with different page numbers but don't know why. It is a poor copy but may make sense to you with the real thing. Two service bulletins WH61-90 #215 Snowthrower 48in Failure of Chute Welds issued in 1977 when 76-48ST01 was sold. WH61-90 #237 D-Series snowthrower belt jumps off issued 1979 when 96-48ST01 was sold. Don't know it they apply to all or not. 6-7451 Replaced by 6-7452, 66-48ST01, 76-48ST01, 86-48ST01, 96-48ST01, 06-48ST01 Garry Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Trouty56 565 #4 Posted October 1, 2012 There are 2 holes in the crossmember of the frame directly below that hole when the blower is attached one being in line. The spring connects to the blower crossmember there and then there is a chain that goes through the hole on that piece you are talking about and connects to the spring. Tension is changed by the amount of chain is pulled through the hole and pinned. Clear as mud right???? Haha I can take a picture tomorrow if needed. By the way when the gearbox assembly is in the front attach-o-matic it is solid as a rock on mine.....I could stand on the bar and it will not move. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
