D-160 badly bent 3 point hitch upper lift arms

Recommended Posts

The upper lift arms of the 3-point hitch on my 1977 D-160 are badly bent inward.

They were that way when I bought the tractor.

Someone must have tried to pull something heavy or they tried to hang the tractor from the arms.

The inside distance between the tips of the left and right arms is only 6". See my measurement below.

This is a category 0 hitch so I assume the distance should be more like 20".

With the upper arms bent inward so much I can't get the lower arms to spread wide enough.

Can someone measure the inside distance on a set of good upper lift arms and let me know what the spread should be at the tip of the arms where I measured mine?

Next thing is I will have to figure out a way to spread the arms or take them to a fabricating shop to do it for me.

Thanks in advance.

WOW, never seen the upper arms bent in so bad!

Might be able to take it off and put in a bench vise and straighten them if you dont have a torch. Atleast enough to use them.

Good luck.

P.S. Good looking tractor.

Take it to some where they have a big hydraulic press would be the best. Looks like it's twisted on the shaft also.
