Just heard these guys are heading east this summer, hoping to see them live.  Ian Moore I'm very familiar with, plus two other Texas guitar slingers, Jesse Dayton and Johnny Moeller.  They're opening for Samantha Fish, could be good...

We are in Baton Rouge for Resurrection Campmeeting at Family Worship Center. It starts this evening at 7PM. This is from this past Sunday evening's regular service. Another wonderful song.

So, no Frank Zappa aficionados here?!

He was a musical genius!

Caught a performance at the Stanley theater in Pittsburgh in the early 1980s. Phenomenal experience.

I'm jealous!

I never saw Frank in person, but I have been to several Dweezil shows.

The audio and video are way out of sync in this, another cool tune from The Future Unwritten.  I've cut the first 30 seconds or so 'cuz the ladies in my life would find it offensive.

This came on at the end of a show the wife was watching tonight and we both started singing along. Not a big Kenny Loggins follower but this song still rings up memories and feelings from the past.

Sorry for the mushy stuff, I'll post some metal stuff the next time! LOL

I realize the audience here, generally, does not listen to hard rock (judging by this thread.)

Still, I wanted to share what Donna & I will be listening to this weekend:

Mammoth WVH
The Struts

May 18:

Nickelback

Maybe you missed this post. Not modern "hard rock" but good old school stuff from the beginning. Does this count?

Or this?

More of a blues vibe but I'd still consider Stevie Ray Vaughan more classic rock. He shows off a little bit on this one!

Sorry, had a couple cocktails got sent off on a tangent! LOL

Yep, it counts.  Ten Years After was Alvin Lee on guitar, wasn't it?  Nugent was a hard rocker, but I am not a fan of his politics.

I grew up on 60s and 70s rock.  I just also enjoy a lot of newer bands, too.

Alice Cooper is playing there.  I saw him around 1985 or so.

Rob Zombie is replacing Alice in Chains (who were replacing Mötley Crüe) and has been around a long time too, although his first (popular) band was WHITE Zombie.  I hope to see him, but the crowds can get pretty crazy at shpws like this.

Yep, but pretty hard, too.  He played lefty, didn't he?  I know he used really heavy strings on his axe.  One of the good ones who were taken too soon.

Saw him at Mohegan Son In CT about 15-20 years ago and back then they wheeled him out in a wheelchair, but then he got up and went to town. It was a good show

And, getting back to my Frank Zappa conversation above, Frank signed Alice Cooper when he was first getting started, when nobody else wanted anything else to do with him.

Check out some of the interviews he did on Youtube. Interesting stuff. He's direct to his point.

I'm sure I have seen just about everything.  There is also a decent bio on Netflix directed by his older son, Ahmet.

I'm a bit of a Zappa fanatic.  I have also seen Dweezil 4 times so far, including his first US show as "Zappa plays Zappa" with special guests Napoleon Murphy Brock, Steve Vai, and Terry Bozio.  Of COURSE they played The Black Page, which was outstanding. Although Dweezil was not as good then as he is now, it was an AMAZING show!  If only Ruth Underwood had been there too, I would have been in heaven.
