Hard work paid off, in the trailer race

I have been picking away at getting my race car ready for a few fun night races at the local short track, First race was the pole race where you have a 1/4 mile oval with a earth mover tire in the middle of the turns you have to make a loop around the tires, with up to a dozen other cars on the track, I got second place, I have a hard time with this race doing the tight turns the tires are about 8' diam. and my car has a locked rear end basically a solid axle so it pushed not turns, I have to try to power it around the tires in the straight aways I can get it wound up pretty good in second gear before backing out of it to make the turns, next race was the trailer race where you pull a trailer in a figure 8 on a 1/4 mile paved track, first one to complete 15 laps WITH your trailer wins, I got tangled with a truck about 4 laps in and put us way back in the pack, I drove the crap out of the car trying to catch up but I couldn't do it, I was over driving the car and not gaining any thing, I have a lead foot when I get behind and 400+ hp just smokes the tires out there, about 8 laps in we all had spread out and no action, I'm known in the area for being a hard driver that puts on a show for the crowd, so with the laps winding down, I lifted off the gas slowed way down to let the pack get farther out in front of me, I guess the announcer told the crowd they better keep a eye on me as it looks like I had a new plan of attack, and I did, one by one I ripped the trailer off the cars and trucks as we went through the intersection, the crowd loved it, my wife and kids said when I started hitting trailers and flat tracking the car and trailer in the corners, the crowd was on their feet cheering, this is what they came to see, well about 6 laps later I had ripped off most of the trailers, or hit them so hard that it sent the car or truck with trailer out in to the infield, so I could pick up the win, the track photographer told me that was the most excitement he had seen in a while, my wife and kids ran out on the track to congratulate me, and tons of people yelling from the stands, back in the pits I felt like a big name racer signing autographs I had a line at one time waiting for me, I enjoy it making people happy, being a entertainer, the family pushes me to keep doing it, they love me racing, I have raced for 30 years and it is not as easy as it used to be, I raced 25+ races a year not long ago, and now have no clue how I used to do it.

Thanks to the wife and kids, with out them I would not have won.

I had a slow leak on one of the race slicks after the pole race, so we swapped the steet tires you see in the pics, had to bend a fender out a little, top off the gas tank, and cool it down, then cool me off, then climb back in and go.
