Mikez655 6 #1 Posted July 1, 2012 Hey guys I swapped engines on my 655 and I can't get the drive pulley off of the old one I tried everything I can to get it off. Any suggestions of what I should do?
Kelly 1,028 #2 Posted July 1, 2012 You did loosen the set screw right? I have used a 3 jaw puller on them.
Mikez655 6 #3 Posted July 1, 2012 Yes I did and I also did use a 3 jaw puller on it and it won't budge at all.
hbrooks49 12 #4 Posted July 2, 2012 Same as for some of the tapered axles on old cars - heat, penetrant, tension, vibration, and patience.... keep tension on it, spray it once in awhile, heat it once in awhile, whack it lightly every time you walk by and one day you'll notice it laying on the floor....... be patient and you won't damage the pulley .. wallfish 16,039 #5 Posted July 2, 2012 You can try knocking it on a little farther just to break it loose and then use the puller to get it off.
can whlvr 991 #6 Posted July 2, 2012 does the pulley have threaded holes to use a harmonic puller, this wont break the outer rim of the pulley,if it has them it works great
SkyhawkTL 19 #7 Posted July 8, 2012 Heat while the puller is in tension, and perhaps a few light taps. Easy does it....... swearing at it also helps........ some metalurgy thing.
