Just wondering what you guys use to check the rpm's on your tractors.

I have a opitcal one from Harber Freight works fine, spark type Vibratory type and a direct contact one.

You can buy a little digital small engine tach on :techie-ebay: for $10. It has a little wire you wrap around your spark plug wire, thats what I use. :thumbs:

I was able to use a regular automotive tach to set my idle and high speed RPM's last year. Here's a link to that thread, especially posts 6 and 8:

Parts of that thread were lost/damaged in one of the RedSquare software conversions a while back. In particular, there's a link in my post #8 there to another earlier thread that you might find useful also, but that link doesn't work now. I believe this was the thread I was thinking about at the time (post #4):
