Stevebo's "New-Old" Clinton 1200

Recommended Posts

Well a little wheeling and dealing yields Steve with an all original engine for his 1958 RJ. Has new points and a carb bowl. Ran great, no noises but puffed a little smoke on throttle up. Steve felt better if I tore into it to investigate/inspect the engine.

The cylinder had some scoring and the ring end gap was out of spec. Crank looked great but had the weaker connecting rod. Knowing Timbo would be there I figured an HD connecting rod would be smart lol.

Cylinder honed, .005 rings and piston also fitted.

As for the latest developments in clinton check out the vendors section for the testing of a new product!

depends how fast you are "trying" to drive it... 5000 rpm does not work... just ask cousin timbo...

Ole Timbo just couldn't resist racing that 10 yr. old girl that stuck her tongue out at him! One to many hot laps on that old Kohler that night.

Clinton looks good Charlie, bring some extra rings for mine!

Ken, I cannot remember what oversize piston I put into that engine...Pull the head before or after the show and the piston will have a number on it...
