onan oil filter

Recommended Posts

i am going to take an onan to the big show. well it did'nt have a filter on it, but i dont want dirt to get in it. so looking in my drain pan was a kohler #5205002 that was on my 518. & a couple of wix #51516 from my 2004 F150s 4.2 liter V6s. the wix filter screwed right on, the gasket & holes were in the right places. the diameter on both filters is 2 7/8 in. length on the kohler filter is 3 3/8in long but the wix is 4 3/4 long. so if you have the room the wix ford filter might be an option. on my 518 the electric lift cly. is in the way of a longer filter but it will work on my 516 & 520. More filter = better oil ? lots and, I mean, lots of opinions on oil and hydro filter selection. when I got my 520-H and pored over all the filter options and lo and behold. I found a Fram 3600 filter left over probally from my long gone Merc Sable V6! it fit perfect yes a little long but putting on a clean filter is easy...its taking it off with all that warm oil is the real story!
