Help needed to identify model of Kohler engine in my 552

Hi there

I bought this 552 about twenty years ago. The attached pics show the tractor as is with a Kohler engine. Not sure if the engine is the original one or not. The engine id plate is not readable. Can anyone tell me if this is a K161 or other model so I can buy the correct parts for the engine?

Well first that is not the orig. engine it would have came with a 5.5hp Lauson/Tecumseh engine, and as for IDing the Kohler we would need better pictures, and you may have to pull the head to measure the bore, remove the hood get pics of the front of the engine.

Thanks Kelly, attached are a couple more pics. Even if I could narrow it down to a couple of models that would help, without me having to pop the head.

It looks like your head has 7 bolts attaching it to the block, which I believe would make it either a K161 (7 HP) or K181 (8 HP).
