There is always a show at the boat launch!

Years ago there was a few old timers that used to sit and watch the idiots at the boat ramp all day long. I would see them having a good old time out there laughing and commenting on everything that went on. It was funny just to watch them.

I hear that. Anytime I'm working in San Diego I try to spend a bit of time at one of the public launches for the San Diego Bay. I see the most crazy stuff!!

Last summer we had to wait for over an hour to launch our boat at a state launch. It's good humor just watching people tyring to back trailers up! The winner of the day was a wife backing her husband in, it's a huge launch with lots of room and it was all her fault he couldn't back straight up! :laughing-rofl:

It is amazing how many dopes are out there ain't it? I could understand them guys driving the Vintage Blazer and Ramcharger into the salt if they were trying to rescue some hot chicks in bikini's but dudes driving a Toyota? Not a chance! :laughing-rolling:

Ken... not a Toyota... a Ford.

Same difference...rofl.....sorry Blue Oval Fans...that was too easy!

For those that don't know, the surf will bury you , literally..If you just stand in the surf you will sink, the moving water literally erodes the sand from under your feet.

Same thing happens to a vehicle, and the heavier they are the faster they go!

When I was in truck driving school in the USMC at Camp Del Mar, my instructor had me drive out into the surf.

I was driving a 40 ton LVS, or "Dragon Wagon".

We got it stuck! I say we because all I did was drive where he told me to! In less than 15 minutes the back of the bed had sand washing up on to it!

It took 4 trucks to pull the thing out ! They are powered by a 445HP Detroit 8V92 twin turbo engine...that makes almost 1800 Horse Power to pull 1 truck out of the surf....

I watched a guy back his Dodge pickup down the boat ramp with a two-place jet-ski trailer and two skis on the trailer. I thought he was a moron once I noticed he hadn't removed the back straps holding the skis to the trailer, but I wasn't prepared for what I was about to witness. So the guy backs the truck up so far that the trailer wheels must have gone off the end of the ramp under water. The entire trailer with both skis plunged like a rock under water because the skis were still strapped and with a slick ramp it pulled the whole truck in even though he had his foot on the brakes. It just dragged everything in. My buddy and I were just staring in disbelief. He jumped out just before the truck went in, but when the dust cleared the only thing you could see was the front of the hood and grille and the cab lights poking out of the water. I remember the soda cans and garbage floating to the surface from the cab of the truck. So this crazy nutcase just kind of looks around and dives in the water about where the skis were. Sure enough about a minute later one of the skis catpaults to the surface as does he. After releasing both skis and tying them to the dock a tow truck arrives. They pulled the truck and trailer out and left it in the lot. He and his friend return to the skis, fiddle with them a little, get them both started and eventually take off down the river. It was so entertaining.
