Buckshot 1 15 #1 Posted April 16, 2012 :) I purchased a, 8spd, 4 pinon,1" axles from Jim M. He did not know the trans. MN., but told me it came out of a 1986, 308-8. I have searched for this tractor number and can not find it. If there is a different MN: for the 308-8, I will appreciated if some one can advise me of the number. So I can ID the model number of the trans. If I posted this in the wrong spot, Please move. Thank you for your time. Don B.

Buckshot 1 15 #4 Posted April 17, 2012 Mike & Don, Thank you for your replies. Mike you was right on the money. I have another question. I am going to install the 8spd. in a 656. what do I do with the dipstick, seeing how the seat/fender pan is in the way? Mike, I see your from NW Ohio, I was born and raised in SE OHIO (Jackson). Thank you for your time. Don B.
tgranthamfd 28 #5 Posted April 17, 2012 You will, most likely, have to get a short tube and dipstick. They were used on most of the older ones.
Buckshot 1 15 #6 Posted April 19, 2012 tgranthanfd, Thank you for your reply. Now on to the search for a shorter dipstick and tube. Don B.
tgranthamfd 28 #7 Posted April 19, 2012 I think most of the 70"s era C series had the short ones. My 1974 C 160-8 does. There are probably many, many more. I don't know the tranny model numbers very well.
