bowtiebutler956 649 #2 Posted April 8, 2012 Well, I don't know of any that are direct replacements, but there are alot of very reasonably priced small diesels on They offer some single cylinder diesels that are china clones of the old Yanmar diesels for around $400-$500, and I think 8 and 10hp. They also have something called a Punsun diesel Vtwin thats about $1000 I think and 20hp. Now any of your better diesels start about $2000 and go up. One of the guys here, Massey did a mini dozer biuld with one of the Yan clones. I havn't heard any updates on how he is liking his diesel now. SALTYWRIGHT 859 #3 Posted April 9, 2012 I PUT A 10 H/P DIESEL IN MY 417-8 AND IT HAS BEEN VERY GOOD. IT CAME WITH ELEC. STARTER READY TO RUN. IT WAS $515.00 DELIVERED TO ME FROM CARROL STREAM MOTORS. I TOOK OUT THE GAS TANK AND PUT 2 BATTERYS IN THEIR PLACE. IT HAS MORE POWER THAN THE 17 THAT WAS IN IT. I GOT THE DIESEL IN 2009. IT ALSO USES LESS THE 1/4 THE FUEL.
