CasualObserver 3,406 #26 Posted July 10, 2008 With no bids, he can change WHATEVER he wants in the listing up until the 12 hours left mark. After a bid or with less than 12 hours remaining on the auction, everything is locked... you can't make any changes after that.
CasualObserver 3,406 #27 Posted July 10, 2008 Do we have an emoticon for "yanking ones chain". got ya covered.
Curmudgeon 28 #28 Posted July 10, 2008 Ah, but to be truly covered, it has to be in the smilies window!

Nick 13 #31 Posted July 10, 2008 Jason, Even after reaching the less than 12 hour left mark the seller can still cancel all the bids. B)
kj4kicks 151 #32 Posted July 10, 2008 Well guys, that put it out of my reach as a complete machine.....
Curmudgeon 28 #33 Posted July 10, 2008 Personally, given everything he listed as wrong with it, I think he's a bit on the high side. Stuff that doesn't work, incorrect engine, no 3-point, and still worth a small fortune? I don't think so............ Looks like a parts machine. The catch there is, if he can sell all the parts he's ahead, but if he sells $500 of parts and just has a pile left over, what did he gain?
kj4kicks 151 #34 Posted July 10, 2008 I just sent the seller an email: Hello, Just wondering what happened with the opening bid price? I was prepared to bid $850 on the tractor, and now the opening bid is $1000 ? Sometimes, it's not about the money that can be made from selling parts. It's about preserving a machine that represents a piece of history. I am sorry that I can't afford to match your opening price, considering I would have to have it transported to PA so it could be restored.Good luck with the sale.Eldon
combatmp29r 27 #35 Posted July 10, 2008 Bet that one doesn't get listed in the questions on the auction Very political and well worded E!! B)
CasualObserver 3,406 #36 Posted July 10, 2008 Nicely put, and you'll have to let us know if he bothers to respond.
Curmudgeon 28 #37 Posted July 10, 2008 Looking at his other auctions, he has no vested interest in Wheel Horse beyond whatever profit he can make. I seriously doubt Eldon's letter will mean much to him other than, "Here's another fanatic that won't pay what something is worth." Hope you don't mind me referring to you as a fanatic, Eldon, as I think that's pretty much what we all are anyway! LOL
combatmp29r 27 #38 Posted July 10, 2008 Yeah but Eldon is in his own special little group Dale B)
Curmudgeon 28 #39 Posted July 10, 2008 Yeah but Eldon is in his own special little group Dale As a metal worker and finisher, he is in a small group of accomplished people, but as a Wheel Horse nut, he's just one of MANY. Including you and I!
combatmp29r 27 #40 Posted July 10, 2008 Well Dale most people would say i'm nuttier than most. i do collect verts remember B)

Curmudgeon 28 #43 Posted July 10, 2008 Well Dale most people would say i'm nuttier than most. i do collect verts remember Collecting verts might put you in your own little sub-category (actually you won't be alone, I know of others) but we're all still in the broader Wheel Horse category. Now if you want to find someone totally alone, search the number of members in the "unbelievable" category right here at Red Square. :horseplay: Note to mods: that better not change either!!!! kj4kicks 151 #46 Posted July 10, 2008 and the expected reply: Dear kj4kicks, Well I looked up what I could make if I parted this out and I can make a lot more if I did, So I would let it go for this amount or I will be parting it out if it don't sell. thank you B)
Curmudgeon 28 #47 Posted July 10, 2008 Yup, doesn't care about the value of the machine, just what the parts can bring. No surprise there to any of us, is it?
combatmp29r 27 #48 Posted July 10, 2008 Nope thats the whole idea behind epay isn't ti? Money money money B)
kpinnc 10,993 #49 Posted July 10, 2008 Sounds like the owner is a plick. Maybe someone will jump in and buy it. At least the machine would be preserved. Sorry Eldon, but chances are you're better off without it. I doubt it's been taken care of in any way. Kevin
linen beige 14 #50 Posted July 11, 2008 and the expected reply: The really sad part is he probably bought it at an auction and doesn't have hardly anything invested.
