Too funny Geno!!

They probably flipped out when they saw you snapping pictures through your rearview mirror.

Next episode of Cops will feature an OCD man with a vehicle full of old tractor parts snapping pics!  :hilarious:  :ychain:

The reason I say it's not the original engine is kohler did not start making K91's until  1959 I also had a early Rj58 with no trans marks with a K91 but I believe these are tractors with replacement engines

and Mike your carb is done

Wondering...   :eusa-think:

is there a data base that will specify the earliest K-91 serial #?

Just remembered I also have this. Here is a picture of a WH document from 1964 showing the early tractors and what engines they had in them. Could be possible that some K91s found their way onto some of the 59s. Kohler replaced the K90 with the K91 sometime in 1959.

Craig,

I also just found this in my Wheel Horse folder. It's from a 1999 WHCC Newsletter. It's just part of the article. The piece was written by Eric van Loock who I know has done some serious research about Pond /Wheel Horse. The information for this article came from the original owners of the tractors so It looks like it was possible for even some RJ58's to have the K91.

Interesting stuff there Jeff.    :thanks:

Seems mine is an even earlier K-91 then, on my mid 7k serial numbered '58...

almost like it's has part of the Clinton spec #'s...3 1107A ...weird, like coincidence?   :scratchead:

There's gotta be somewhere you can date these things by the serial #...I just sayin'.

From my experiences I would have to agree with Brian, early RJ58's would have typically had a K90 or a Clinton 1200 or A1200... My early 58 has a A1200 Clinton with a serial number of 1789.

With a serial number of 7098 I would becareful calling it an "early" 58 on a couple of reasons... as there was about 21 to 22,000 of these things said to be produced... your serial number puts your tractor basically in the first half of production. Its well documented that the Pond's were swip-swapping parts all through the RJ production years, specially during the 58 model year, so having a non-date code tranny case is not a dead give-a-way. You have to take the tractor as a whole (all the attributes) before "thumb measuring" the date or time period it was manufactured. For example your RJ has the standard RJ front rims, not the left over RJ35 rims and your rear hitch is the sheet metal style not the band iron style. Both of which would support a standard production RJ.

And the most important thing, IMO, about these tractors... they are 56 years old so who knows what has happen to them.

Even with all of that said you scored a very nice RJ Craig!

I've been trying to get a post up explaining that.  Stupid truck will run out of gas on a hill when it says it has 2.9 gallons in it.  :eusa-doh:  We were in a stretch where there were no gas stations for many miles and that's what happened.  Luckily we called Onstar and they took care of it.  There was no emergency lane so we were in the highway, Onstar called the police to make sure we didn't get run over and sent out a guy with some gas.  :)

Sandra is pic happy.  She got the wrecker too.  I don't think the police dude would have liked it though if he saw his pic being taken, or he would have thought she was weird.   :laughing-rolling:
