I Did It!!! ViaSat's Exede

Recommended Posts

T-Mo

After 3 years of using Hughesnet and experiencing slightly better than dial-up, I called and signed up for ViaSat's (Wild Blue) Exede. It's to be installed April 2. I saw the RFT-TV's Live show Monday and they had ViaSat on promoting their Exede. I have been thinking about switching every since I first learned of Exede which was back in January. So yesterday I made the leap and ordered it. Now I'll see if I made a good choice or not in April.

I am kinda like Bob here. Frontier has me by the short and curly's. Too far from town for anything else and H-net doesn't serve us either. Good Luck with it.

Hey T-Mo, I have heard that it is so fast, you probably already know what I was going to type. :) Let us know what you think.

They seem a bit stingy on the data caps but if you're used to near dial-up speeds it may not be an issue. It has 7.5Gb, 15Gb, 25Gb, for $49.99, $79.99 & $129.99 respectively. I'll never be able to use Satellite broadband since they don't support VPN's. I've heard people can get it to work with a VPN but the speeds drop to dial-up speeds.

I almost signed up for AT&T U-Verse with the 24Mb download speed but ended up cancelling the order since I'm not able to stay under their 250Gb per month data cap. Once you go past 250Gb AT&T charges $10 for each additional 50Gb overage. With a lot of service providers implementing data caps I bet people with open wireless networks will be getting notices on high usages more and more from people getting on their network for big downloads. My phone picks up open home wireless networks in neighborhoods all the time.
