oil prices... (was gas prices)

Not sure if you guys have the same issue out there…

But I guess you do ! I’m looking to buy oil to fill my GT14 transmission, manual says 5 qts. Conversion to metric (we are litres in Europe now) = 4.7 litres.

Oil used to be sold in imperial gallons by the gallon, so 1 gallon is 4.54 litres… When we sent metric we round up so a gallon became 5litres. :)

So I go to buy 5 litres of decent synthetic oil from the supermarket of all places… then I get a bit spare for topping up.

:handgestures-thumbup:

Seems they have now rounded down :banghead:

Oil is now sold in 4litres containers @ £25 ( $40), to get the extra 0.7 litres I have to buy a 2litre container to top up @ £16 ($25) Over £40 to fill up... thats ludicrous!

Is the world going mad??

mark

(off to find a shop that sells oil in 5 litre containers)

It's not the world that has gone mad,it's the people on it.Except for me,of course. It's like my car.It takes 5 qts with the filter. The stores sell 5 qt plus a little. Can't figure what the little extra is for.Another thing. How come a package of hotdogs is 10,but the pack of buns is 8?Better days are coming.

Forest Road

I started buying Amsoil by the gallon a few years back. It's not much more expensive than conventional oil and I get 15,000 to 20,000 miles between changes. So I'm saving considerably.

If it's any consolation Mark, even if I can get a 5 litre container of oil it still won't be enough for my 'D' which according to the manual requires 6 quarts (5.7 litres). :confusion-scratchheadblue:
