uploading pics my way.....

Recommended Posts

Martin

ok, i have a pic or two of my tractors i want to get up here to show you guys. this is the way i go about it.

first of all we will do the upload from my computer with a pic that was taken from my phone. the phone can be treated same as a camera, its going to be the same operation. i will do this whole thing in stages, so if you start reading this thread and it doesnt seem complete, just hang around a bit it might take a little while to get it all done.

so here goes...

first of all we need to find the pic that we want to upload, most of you know how to get them to a computer from a camera, simple way is to connect camera to computer, any pop ups from windows regarding wizards or whatever i totally ignore and cancel them. this is for windows.

please bear with me while i try to do this, first time for me......

if the pics are too small to see properly you can click on them to make them bigger.......

getting the pic to the redsquare album you want. before you go any further make sure you have your album on redsquare already set up.

first go to my computer and find your camera or photo device, mine is an iphone so i select iphone....

iphone.jpg

then we need to find the pic that we want to show everybody on the forum!

search through the photo device to find it.....

save.jpg

right click on pic and click save in my pictures and then go to where its saved. you could select copy and choose another folder to save in, its up to you where you save it. just remember what folder you saved it in. the pic will have a file name, remember this too!!!! or at least remember what it looks like. it will make it easier to find. anyone who has a bunch of pics will know how frustrating it is to find pics sometimes......

go to that folder  ..........

mypictures.jpg

theres your pic down the bottom..... IMG_0401.....

now that we have the pic on the computer, now we need to get it into a redsquare album for all to see.....

so go to your favorite forum and into the gallery. ( click on gallery in the header just below the redsquare banner on the home page)......

now we are here.....

selectalbum.jpg

select the album you want to upload to, martins rebuilds....( in this example) dont try to upload all your pics to my album, i want to see them in yours!!!!

now you need to find the upload and click on it..........

upload.jpg

now we are ready to select the pic to upload......

click on choose files......

choosefiles.jpg

look in my pictures, select the pic IMG_0401 and click open

select.jpg

now it will upload.......

uploading.jpg

after its finished uploading it will look like this.....

review.jpg

click on review and publish.......

here you get to make some final decisions on whether you want to publish or delete, make it your album cover image or rotate the image if you need to.....

your image title can also be changed if you want to.

publish.jpg

click on finish and publish to get it to the album...

and there it is.....

done.jpg

alright, i need a rest after all that. i need to go back through it and see if it makes any sense. while this is up i will be working on the next step which is to post this pic in a thread or post. i hope this little 'tutorial' is easy enough for you guys who have never uploaded pics before to follow. stay tuned on how to get this pic into a post.....................

now lets get that pic into a post..........

this is going to be interesting as i need to do a demo thread to get the screen shots for this post so im going to go crazy here for a bit......

alright here we go......

i find this easier to do if you have two tabs or windows open to redsquare in your internet browser, one for your post and one for the album where you are getting your pic from.

lets get a thread going first, every body that posts on here already knows how to do that, really easy, but im going to do it from the start to get those 'readers' on here encouraged enough to maybe post on here too..... you know who you are, we all want to hear from you! and see your tractors too! so maybe after all this you will know how to do it and theres no more excuses!!!!!................

now first lets work out where we are going to post....

this pic i used was the dash panel from my 1057 and im 'restoring it' so lets go into the resto part of the forum and start a thread there....

click on start new topic

1startnewtopic.jpg

then we need to enter the title and message in the appropriate places. now we are ready to insert our pic into the post, theres a image icon in the tool bar so lets click on that to post our image......

2titleandmessage.jpg

then we will have a pop up where we can enter an address.....

3imageaddress.jpg

right now is where the other tab comes in, go to the other tab or window that the album image is in that you want to paste and lets get that image link.....

click on options

4selectimageoptions.jpg

then share links.....

5sharelinks.jpg

then you need to copy the image link by selecting it, right clicking and selecting copy.......

6copylink.jpg

now we need to go back to the first window and the pop up will still be there, so right click in the field and paste the link......

7paste.jpg

now we have the link click ok.......

8ok.jpg

now we have our pic in the post and are ready to post it. click post new topic

9postnewtopic-1.jpg

and that should be it. go search for your post in the restorations forum or by clicking on view new content.........

alright, thats enough info to get you going on the basics, from this you should be able to post threads and have multiple images and text in between them with a little bit of work and experimenting.

hope this helps some of you get some of your tractor pics up on the forum for all of us to see........
