K181 Connecting Rod .020?

Just wondered if anyone was aware of a source for a .020 connecting rod for a K181?

I've heard that someone started making them, but I haven't been able to locate the source.

This guy on ebay makes them for the the 12 14 and 16hp engines he might have them for 8 hp

i rebuilt my last kohler through him,hes a good guy to deal with,call him and ask,he answers almost every time i called him

I agree, I got the rebiuld kit for my K301 through him. very helpful guy.

I think maybe you'd be better off looking for a crankshaft that still has .010 left in it.

so i havnt ever looked into the 8 hp,s when mine blew it destroyed the entire engine so i didnt look into it,is a .020 rod not available for 8 hp,s just asking for inquiring minds

They are available for the 10 through 16 hp, but no one has been able to establish whether or not they are made for the 8's.

You could contact Brian Miller and see if he can get rod inserts for you Just a thought, when I had my crank done on my K241 that is what they did(not Brian another shop here at home)

As it turns out, the machine shop was able to grind the crank to .010, so I don't need the .020 rod. What I'm reading here supports what I'd heard...that the rods were available for the 10hp & up. Hope to have the B-80 back up and running by the weekend!

This is just a thought.... But I believe, the K161 and K181 crank pin mite not have enough meat to trun .020 safely compared to the larger K Series "one lungs".
