what do you know about A 416-8 Onan?

Hi guys my name is kenny and this is all new to me so bear with me

I just got A 416-8 and it is not starting .

All I know about it is A 416 -8 with A onan engage in it.

is that A good or bad engage ? what can I do with it to get it going?

it will crank over but no spark.

:WRS: we could use a little more info please,as asked is it cranking,if so do you have spark,usually if i have those 2 things i will replace the fuel lines,fuel filter,check the gas tank for crud and the screen is clear,then check if the fuel pump is pumping,clean the carb,usually needs a real good cleaning,check your plugs and wires,then i would make sure you have fuel too the carb and give her a try,i see you posted,check your safty switch on the seat(under the seat)

little carb cleaner just to see if it will fire

First thing make sure you check the oil level before you go cranking the engine. Like above if it will crank, check to see if there is spark on both cylinders, pull the plugs and make sure you have compression. If that's OK spray some carb cleaner in the carb and if it runs or tries to start you have a fuel problem. It's just that simple.
