Walbro Carburators

I have a Toro weed wacker that is barly running after I rebuilt the carb. I believe the problem is that I do not have the needle adjusted properly. But it could be that I am not sure how the fuel lines are connected. As I understand it the return line goes to the bulb then the tank. I see air bubbles in the bulb when the motor is running. I don't know if that is normal or not. The other question is weater the return line goes to the bottom of the tank or not. Any other suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Hi, RJR49, and welcome to Red Square!

I'll take a stab at this since I just finished rebuilding two carbs for Mantis tillers and one on an Echo string trimmer (all very similar to the Toro, I'll bet). The return line does connect near the primer bulb and only needs to stick into the fuel tank far enough to make sure the returning fuel doesn't leak out. On mine it sticks into the tank about an inch. The main fuel pick-up line does need to go to the bottom of the tank with some excess length to allow the filter, which acts as an "anchor" to keep the line at the bottom of the tank regardless of the angle, to move freely. Where that line connects on your carb is probably close to the inlet port on the internal fuel pump of the carb. Some air bubbles in the primer bulb while the machine is running is, in my expereince, completely normal. Better mechanics than I am (which is most!) will hopefully jump in here with other suggestions as to where your running issue is. The one thing I do remember from having all three carbs opened up is the tiny parts in them can get turned around or forgotten pretty easily. I thought I was going to need a microscope to put some things back together!

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks for the help.. I do not think this thing has 10 hours on it, but it sat in my Fathers garage for 10 years and mine for 5 or 6 before I stopped being lazy and decided to do my own yardwork. I reused the old lever?? because I didn't know what the adjustment was. I found that it's .062 so I will check that. Everything else is as you described. Thanks again.

Randy
