Have you considered a polyethylene wear edge? (3/4 inch UHMW - Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) You may want to check out this post....

I don't think that the cutting edge is NLA so I'm almost positive you can.

According to that post I linked to there was one person who said the highway dept got 2 years use out of them so I'd imagine it would last a really long time for your use.

I thought I read somewhere that some people flipped the existing wear bar and used the other side when possible. You might want to check that out since it wouldn't require any $$. You may have to bevel the edge with a grinder.

They're made to be flipped so you may want to look at it and see if it has an unused side.

I don't think I would worry about grinding a bevel on it, they're " self beveling".
