JimD 3,347 #1 Posted December 3, 2011 I can't seem to be able to paste a link in a reply here on the new site. Anyone else having a problem? Is it in my settings, or do I need to do something to enable this? Thanks, Jim
rmaynard 16,289 #2 Posted December 3, 2011 What type of link are you trying to paste? Here is a link to McMaster and Carr that I just copied and pasted. http://www.mcmaster....#screws/=f7e80x I don't think that I have done anything other than a normal setup. nylyon-(Admin) 7,878 #3 Posted December 3, 2011 Jim, there shouldn't be any restrictions, what are you trying to paste, where and what is happening?
JimD 3,347 #4 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) Well guys, I can't even post a link to this thread in this thread. Google Edited December 3, 2011 by nylyon Checking links.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,878 #5 Posted December 3, 2011 What does it do Jim?
JimD 3,347 #6 Posted December 4, 2011 When I try to paste I get a drop-down window that says: Back forward reload stiop bookmark save page as send link view background image select all this frame view page source view page info
nylyon-(Admin) 7,878 #7 Posted December 4, 2011 If you're using a PC, instead of right clicking use <control> V which will paste the link, but right clicking in the window should work also (it does on a Mac)
rmaynard 16,289 #8 Posted December 4, 2011 When I try to paste I get a drop-down window that says: Back forward reload stiop bookmark save page as send link view background image select all this frame view page source view page info Sounds to me like you did not get a good "COPY" when you tried to copy the link. If you just right click in the post having not copied anything, all you will get is the drop-down as described above. There has to be content on your clipboard in order for the paste option to show up. Does it work elsewhere?
JimD 3,347 #9 Posted December 4, 2011 http://www.google.com/ig Control v works but what a pain. I'm so used to just clicking it and it's there. I guess I'll have to adjust. :eusa-think:
JimD 3,347 #10 Posted December 5, 2011 Ok, dumb question time. Why is it I an right click to paste in the chat room but I have to use control v in the forum?
nylyon-(Admin) 7,878 #11 Posted December 5, 2011 You should be able to right click and paste in both. Is this what you are seeing? http://screencast.com/t/ylym2vzwgI8 There is an open report with IPB but it isn't likely that there will be a patch. The solution is to be sure your cursor is on an line then right click. Give that a shot...
JimD 3,347 #12 Posted December 5, 2011 Karl, when I right click to paste I get a white popup window with this information in it: Back forward reload stop bookmark save page as send link view background image select all this frame view page source view page info It doesn't link me to anything. I should get the popup window that says paste in it.
Vinylguy 4,691 #13 Posted December 5, 2011 What browser are you using Jim? Just wondering. control C to copy control v to paste
buckrancher 2,694 #14 Posted December 5, 2011 I had that problem too Jim but I found that if I right click on the flashing line at the start of your sentence I got the little drop down box with paste in it Brian
