Electric lift

Recommended Posts

Could someone help me with a problem I have... I have a 72 raider 14 with electric lift... Part #8-4221 superseded by 8-4222. The problem is that between the housing and the motor is a spacer. Mine is cracked and the holes are striped out. Where can I find the spacer or a used lift actuator? :dunno: I have searched e bay and Toro with no luck. I have a number and it is 104-9010-001... :wh:

You should be able to weld it, sometimes it's hard to get it clean enough though. Try taking it to your local welding shop and see what they say.

Yes you can weld cast aluminum.

Tig works best but it can be done with a spool gun and a mig.

It needs to be VERY clean. Like sorekiwi said, sometimes that is the tough part!

The problem with welding cast aluminum is that it "soaks up" contaminates. Things like Tranny cases or engine blocks you can clean until you are exhausted, then the minute you hit it with a welder the contaminates come out and ruin the weld.

However the easiest and a better repair for stripped threads in cast aluminum is a helicoil.
