Gene_S 93 #26 Posted October 23, 2011 I agree Steve... For $6500 he should of got a new motor...
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #27 Posted October 23, 2011 For $6500 there should of been a 1962 Fuel injected 327 Chevy in it... I like how Rick added a 1/4" plate under the seat so the 500 lb owner could ride around on it without breaking it! At that rate it should of had a full floater one ton rear axle! otrelwood 32 #28 Posted October 23, 2011 :dunno: seems like everything they do on that show is way overpriced. ole rick charged the pawn stars so much they went to a different guy. :help:
Don1977 605 #29 Posted October 23, 2011 seems like everything they do on that show is way overpriced. ole rick charged the pawn stars so much they went to a different guy. The pawn stars never pay more than half what something is worth. He would have to cut his cost by 85%. :thanks:
MikesRJ 558 #30 Posted October 23, 2011 At $6500.00 that guy paid roughly $162.50 an hour to get that thing restored. Cripes, the national average for a doctor is only between $80-$125/hr. If anyone wants me to restore a tractor for you, I'll only charge $100.00 an hour. :wh:
Ken B 3,189 #31 Posted October 24, 2011 Remember the 57 Chevy 150 they restored for Rick on Pawn Stars? The car got a new big block 502 motor, new tranny, full interior, replacement of all floor boards, all the body work, paint, electrical, suspension work, new glass, you name it. The only thing I didn't really like about that car was its stance and the cheesy looking side exhaust they put on it. The total for everything was 75k, all things considered, that was a DEAL. Maybe Rick lost his shirt on that one and needs to make up for it on certain jobs? :dunno:
Gene_S 93 #32 Posted October 24, 2011 If anyone has noticed this guy that had the bantam done has had other things done by them and I've also noticed a lot of repeat customers. I'm thinking it's all show but man talk about scaring customers off with such high prices. One of the things they restored that I'd really like to have was the safe they done. Now that was one cool piece!!!
CasualObserver 3,411 #33 Posted October 24, 2011 From the Bantam owners site.... As for the steep restoration cost $$$ ... Well let's just say that's a TV price, kinda like the over priced stuff on game shows. And no that wasn't my Dad in the amusement park photo, don't know where that came from? That was me and my Dad in the backyard though. BIG MIKE
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #34 Posted October 24, 2011 To quote John Fogerty: I know it's true, oh so true, 'cause I saw it on TV. Some of these shows obviously "dumb things up" and throw in a super-size side order of drama just to draw & hold attention. Personally I prefer the "add a hot female or two" approach. :dunno:
JimD 3,347 #35 Posted October 25, 2011 Mmmm, ya, but I'm now getting a mental image of what that guy's girlfriend might look like. :dunno:
