So What Are Your Other Hobbies???

Recommended Posts

Duff

Well, even though we only get six or seven months of really good weather for it, here's my favorite hobby besides my tractors.....

DSCN0025-1-1.jpg

...and all year 'round our kids keep us amused!

Img0010-2.jpg

...and then there's playing bass guitar in several bands, filling in when their own bass players can't make a gig. Classic rock, new country and bluegrass are my favorites. And in my spare time I stage manage all the imported events at our local opera house. Just did a Pink Floyd Tribute show last weekend, Paula Poundstone of comedy fame this weekend, a bluegrass festival in two weeks and on and on. Life is good, thank the Lord!

ya silent killer is right, them buicks are quick :scratchead: . my buddy had a v6 regal that would launch like a rocket :ychain: . the car ran in the 11's with no NOS.

i loaned him my car for the day to go out of state and he let me use his regal. that was one fun day cruiseing that car around.

its too bad he was out one late night with it and got T-boned by a drunk. totaled the car out :ychain: .

just this past summer i was down at the woodward cruise week and there was a buick regal / grand national club meeting in one of the parking lots. there must have been 40 of them there. it was fun to sit and watch them leave. lots of burnin rubber and turbo's flutter'n :hide: .

I hunt Indian artifacts in the plowed grounds in the early spring. Started doing

It when I was 8. 30 years latter I'm still out there looking, always amazed that

I find stuff every year in the same fields that I started in.

Indy

That's cool, Indy. I have a friend who does the same thing, and has hundreds of arrowheads on display.

I mess around with RC rock crawlers, and otherwise just like about anything mechanical. I spend a lot of time taking care of my truck- it had a hard life previously, and I am slowly getting it into tiptop shape. The Cummins will live for a while yet, so I want the rest of the truck to make it, too.

Those are what I do in my spare time, for myself. I would have to say that being a Christian, and living that out each day in service to others, (which is much more than a hobby) is how I spend the most of my time. Please don't take me wrong, in saying that- I am not high falluting, or egotistical. It simply is what I do.

"Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13

Thanks hodge!! Most people think that I'm "just lookin for rocks" they don't

understand that it's Indian culture that I'm seeking. I've got a pretty sizeable

collection myself.

Thanks again Indy

Pumpkin Run is Nov 7, you gonna make it?

No Buzz I'm shutting it down for the year...last weekend me and a friend ran out to Wisconsin to pick up a machine and on the way out there a GD deer ran into the side of the truck and blasted the side of the bed all to hell ! This happened just outside of Brecksville Ohio.

I'm hoping that 2010 will be a better year for shows because with the exception of Jacktown for me they all sucked weather wise.

Thanks,

Not Really for sale, I wouldnt turn down a good offer but it is a project. Time for a refresh on the motors (twin 600HP Blown Big Blocks) and I have the cabin pulled out to make it a poker run boat. Not too bad for a 1985 357 SR-1

I have a few other hobbies but one of the ones I enjoy the most is collecting and restoring antique outboards and vintage aluminum boats. In the past 5 yrs I've restored no less than 10 boats and I mean TOTAL restorations. My oldest outboard is a 1915 Evinrude. Heres a few examples of the two boats I restored this past summer. Both are very rare seldom seen boats. Lots of cleaning, wet sanding and buffing! At least a months time was spent on each boat before I was satisfied with the results. The first two pictures are of a rather rare 1956 Feather Craft Ranger. It was a total turd when I bought it.

The second boat is a 1958 Alumacraft with optional bow deck and center steering. This is a very rare boat and it also was a turd when I bought it. The oxidation was so severe you could almost cut yourself on it! This is my favorite boat I own and they'll bury me in it. The First pic is the day I got it home. Much nastier in person!

Here are a few links of me running each boat and a few of the motors I own.

This past summer I sold off quite a bit of my boats and outboard collection. I bought a ski boat and my dream car! So many hobbies so little time!

Well, I'm pretty sure I can assume that everyone on here has Wheel Horses on their list of hobbies. But what about your others? What are you doing when you AREN'T working on your tractors, or on here of course lol.

Well, I'll start. My biggest hobby besides W.H. is cars. Raised going to car shows, always out in the garage helping dad etc etc. Here's a few pics of my other red horse that is also my avatar.

I'm also into the shooting sports. I really enjoy heading up to the ***** range with a bunch of family and friends and blasting away clay pigeons all day. Helps get me outdoors, and spend time with the people who count most.

Pretty much sums me up, my 3 biggest hobbies are Cars, Shooting & Wheel Horse :thumbs2:

Nice car :thumbs2: I have an old Camaro RS that I started to restore then our economy went waaaay south. I also dabble at writing fiction (never published yet), building computer systems and networks, metal fabricating and sculpture, web and computer graphic design. I hold an associate degree in IT and Visual Communications and my most active hobby is trying to find employment. :banghead:
