Forest Road 594 #1 Posted October 3, 2011 I just got done rebuilding my 2 stage blower. Blasted and painted. A lot of new parts as well. I have a couple questions 1 After greasing the blower main bearing I had a large amount of grease come out in the housing. The backing plate behind the bearing does it matter what way it goes in? I don't recall if it had any difference among each side. 2 - When its running I hear a whining sound. Is that normal? There's oil in both gearboxes. And everything spins freely by hand. 3 - Has anyone come up with a method for mounting an adjustable idler sprocket in order to get rid of that tension block? Thanks guys. shorts 182 #2 Posted October 4, 2011 IIRC I was studying the Parts Tree exploded views of the different 2 stage blower parts and one or more of the newer style blowers use an idler sprocket instead of the rubbing block. check in the industrial supply catalogs and find the smallest diameter idler sprocket that fits the chain, #40 I think, and then adjust the mounting bracket to make the sproket fit and take up the slack in the chain.
