416-8 starter

Recommended Posts

I need to remove the starter on my 1987 416-8 with a Kohler Magnum and would like to know if there is anything I should look out for. I looks like I will have to remove the oil filler tube so I assume I need to drain the oil. Is there anything else I should look out for?

You do not need to drain the oil. The level of the oil is well below the bottom of the hole when you remove the dipstick tube. Other than that it is a very easy job.

if you havnt done it yet watch once you take the starter off,it will fall apart once the bolts that hold it to the engine are taken out,and go easy on the bolts that hold it to the engine, work them slowly, they can break as they are only 1/4 inch
