T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #4 Posted June 12, 2008 It's going to get bad here in Missouri also as the water from Iowa, Illinois, etc., makes it's way down river on the Mississippi, the Missouri, the Illinois, the Ohio, etc. rivers. They're predicting an almost repeat of the '93 flood.
CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted June 12, 2008 Anybody see what happened over by the Dells in Wisconsin? The dam on Lake Delton broke, and drained the lake. 10 foot deep...260 acre lake.... gone... just the river that formed it running through there now.... Houses that were along the edges were completely washed away... others ripped in half as the ground beneath them eroded way. the famous Tommy Bartlett water-ski show/water park and all the surrounding summer tourism... GONE.... multi-millions of dollars lost this summer. Google Lake Delton flood for stories.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #6 Posted June 12, 2008 Jason, I think I have seen some of those photos this morning on AOL. Devastating stuff. The one video of that one house being ripped in two as it was swept away was pretty amazing and scary.
combatmp29r 27 #7 Posted July 1, 2008 Jim, how did the Inlaws fair in the flood? We had a couple feet in the crawlspacwe, but the sump pump took care of it in no time flat. I have some pics of the neighborhood I'll get up in the next couple days. The next door neighbor and I stood in his garage and watched it get within 2 feet of the door, from his house on though it got up to 4 feet deep the rest of the way down the street. Alot of loss here in town. Over $640,000 to the police department alone. They had 23 cars, Suvs, trucks etc washed away and the year old police station had 9' of water upstairs B)
Jim_M 179 #8 Posted July 1, 2008 Joel, They got about 2 1/2 feet of water in their basement, it took out the igniter on their water heater, and a circuit board and blower motor on their furnace. Other than that, no real damage, just a lot of wet odds and ends. Jim
combatmp29r 27 #9 Posted July 2, 2008 Good to hear Jim. My SIL had about 4 feet in the basement, but no damage to the utilities. Everything else went to the curb though. Good thing it wasn't a finished basement. B)
