shootinok 15 #1 Posted August 4, 2011 Ok this is a bunch of Real Men on this Forum (obviously) so I will guess many of you shave with a Safety Razor. If you don't - You Must Try It! I've been converted for about 7 months now and will never use anything else again. The shave has been turned into a Zen experience. I just tried a new soap called "Tabac" - - absolutely great. Are old Razors as good as old Tractors? I think so...
71_Bronco 1,072 #2 Posted August 4, 2011 Not too long ago, I was going to convert from using my Gillette Fusion to a good old fashion straight razor. Well, I was researching them, and about ready to buy one and all the needed accessories, but then a little thing called "Bronco 14" came along and sucked up my razor money lol. shootinok 15 #3 Posted August 4, 2011 Not a straight razor - I'm not that manly I'm talking about the old single blade safety razor - and you can get a real nice one for the price of two packages of Fusion blades.
MaineDad 87 #4 Posted August 4, 2011 I use an old Gillette Safety razor with shave soap and boar bristle brush. It works so much better than a new razor of today and cost soooooo much less for blade replacements. I pay about $3 for a set of 5 blades that last about 3 months. The razor industry, like lawn and garden tractors, is more about marketing and getting repeat business. Go to classicshave dot com to learn about how Mr. Gillette wanted to make more money because his current customers were not buying his products more often. His razors worked so good and lasted forever that he was not getting fast enough turnover. Thus the disposable razor was invented. If you layout the money for a safety razor, you will use it for the rest of your life.

Fusion replacement heads are like 20 bucks for 4, or something along those lines. Yeah a straight razor is more for start-up cost, but from what I have read / heard, they last a lifetime, and will pay for itself eventually. that, and what is cooler then saying "yeah, I shave with a straight razor" lol
