DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #3 Posted July 31, 2011 This is the list by state http://about.usps.com/news/electronic-pres...s/statelist.htm They have 32,000 locations and 70,000 third-party retailers so overall it's not that many and the ones they are closing aren't utilized. I receive most of my bills electronically and pay them online. It's been years since I bought a stamp. Most of my mail is junk mail. I noticed recently that a package that I was tracking got passed over to FedEx and then back to USPS locally. It's probably cheaper for them to contract out to FedEx then to pay a Federal employee salary and benefits which are substantial for the job duties.

Cheers ~Duke Tom might not post too often but he's made the drive from Florida to the Wheel Horse Show every year for the past 7 or 8 years............. Sorry I missed seeing Wes on TV, Billy was probably in the area but was too ugly to be shown. Oh yeah, Wes was the one that supplied the B-100 raffle tractor that Stevasaurus won. stevasaurus 23,274 #5 Posted July 31, 2011 They may be federal employes, but the commercials say that they are NOT funded by the government. I think that most of their money comes from junk mail. Sounds like they lost over a billion last year...makes me wonder who is funding them. Like a lot of other things...we are becoming a people relying on electronics. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is happening to news papers and magazines also. People are losing their jobs because technology is replacing them. If you watch the Star Trek movies, they got rid of money and hunger by the 25th century...I know we will get there, but what happens between now and then. I think a "food replicator" would be a great start to that end. Imagine walking up to a computer and saying..."Tea...Earl Grey". Make it so. "Dreams are the thread of life". original by Stevasaurus. Buzz...I got to talk to Wes again this year...very nice guy. The story behind the B-100 is truly AMAZING. I feel very fortunate to be the one that got to bring it home. It also will last into the 25th century. B)
zieg72 209 #6 Posted July 31, 2011 I try to do my part with junk mail. I let all the credit card applications pile up and other junk mail and about once a month I will go through it and after removing my name on everything I fill back the postage paid envelopes with the junk mail and drop 20-30 envelopes back at the post office.
