Horseboy 0 #1 Posted July 20, 2011 I have an old HH100 off of an old craftsman 10XL tractor. I jumped the starter with another tractor batt. It turns over fine, just no spark. Now I connected the three prong connector coming from the magneto? or the coil......Sorry dont know a whole lot about these things. Now it runs from the engine to the ign. switch. I want to run this engine on my horse. Already checked and it clears the hood etc. I would just like to simplify the wiring. Just use a push button start. So im guessing ground one of the three wires coming from ignition, Run the other two to a switch, then I should be good to go....????? Ill post pics up....Let me know if Im going in the right direction... -Sean
Sparky-(Admin) 19,542 #2 Posted July 20, 2011 I dont know what you do need to do, but I do know that you dont want to short the Solid State ignition unit on that motor. Very expensive if you can find one. Good luck, one our more knowledgable guys will help ya and I'm going to move this to the "Electrical Section for ya. Mike....... jdog_kustoms 82 #3 Posted July 20, 2011 if it has the solid state ignition ( none points) all you need is gas and a wire to the starter to start it it makes it own spark and the wire off the bottom of the coil needs to be grounded out to shut it off and if you need any other the solid state parts i have them all off a good running motor
Horseboy 0 #4 Posted July 21, 2011 Yes solid state ignition. Thats what I did, I jumped it hooking cables straight to pos. lead coming from the starter. But when I pulled the plug and layed it on the head/ upper tin, and cranked it over, I could see no spark? I did have the fuel tank removed at the time. What is the three prong connector coming from the engine? (Ill get pics tomorrow). It splits off, and goes to the ign. switch and maybe the switch for the headlamps... Thanks, Sean.
