truckin88 104 #1 Posted July 9, 2011 Guys, found a nice shed/accessory building on CL, it is about 10 miles away. How much should it be to get moved to my house, who should I call besides shed companies. Thanks, Will
Duff 206 #2 Posted July 9, 2011 Will, is anybody you know in the construction business? Four strong building jacks and a lowboy trailer should do the job! Don't know rates in your area. Around here probably a hundred bucks, give or take how well you know the mover and if you're willing to help them out. Duff :woohoo:
Ken B 3,189 #3 Posted July 9, 2011 Depending on the size of the shed you might be able to get a tow truck company to tow it with a flat bed truck, I know a guy that had a tow truck company tow his pontoon boa to the lake.
truckin88 104 #4 Posted July 9, 2011 guys it is 10x12
mr.pipes 4 #5 Posted July 9, 2011 I agree with Ken. Flatbed from a small tow company.
Duff 206 #6 Posted July 9, 2011 Yup - flatbed is the way to go. I thought it might have been larger when I suggested a lowboy. ~Duff :woohoo:
CRE1992 135 #7 Posted July 9, 2011 Since it is 10x12 your will need a oversize, or wide load permit... Or you could travel in the middle of the night, and make sure there are no height obstructions... My dad an I traveled from Mass to NJ with a 31ft ocean master with twin 350s if I remember correctly the beam was 10ft lol. I miss that boat, it killed gas though I think it was like 4 gallons to nautical mile? Well anyways goodluck :woohoo:
Nick 13 #8 Posted July 9, 2011 Height could be a problem also. I think legal height is 13'-6".
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #9 Posted July 9, 2011 About 5 years ago I was "given" one for free but it was at the bottom of the guy's backyard (and I mean bottom). Not being able to get a truck to it I ended up taking it apart and hiring my poker buddies to help me move it up the hill on the boat trailer then to my house. The pizza and beer during the game was on me I would take a look at it and see if there is access to get to it. Many times they are built on site :D
MikesRJ 558 #10 Posted July 9, 2011 Most shed building companies here in PA move sheds for a few hundred bucks. You might want to call one local to you.
truckin88 104 #11 Posted July 9, 2011 Guys it was an offsite built one, dropped by truck & trailer from a local shed company. I am waiting for call backs from 2 local shed companies with quotes if they are high I will call a rollback company. Thanks, Will
stevasaurus 23,274 #12 Posted July 9, 2011 Sometimes those sheds are made to disassemble in sections, then you are looking at just transportation...and you can rent a trailer. :woohoo:
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #13 Posted July 9, 2011 I know someone who had a 20ft shipping container moved about 10 miles on a flatbed tow truck for about $65. It was easy access for the truck though. I looked up the dimensions and they were: External Dimensions Length: 19' 10" Width: 8' Height: 8' 6"
truckin88 104 #14 Posted July 9, 2011 first quote from shed guy $275 plus $3.65 /mile Oh Boyyy...waiting on others
Martin 2,133 #15 Posted July 9, 2011 im with steve on this. i would be looking real close and making sure that it cant be disassembled. would be a whole lot easier to move. even if it was site built, depending on the materials, it could be pulled apart, taking note of how it goes back together and transported and then reassembled. if it one of those steel put together ones, its probably just a matter of unscrewing all the fasteners and then its apart. far far bigger buildings than this have been moved by dismantling them and then reassembly, and what you save on oversize transport, pay some buds to help.
