Woodsman 3 #1 Posted July 4, 2011 Ok, I just finished "rebuilding" this deck. I had it tore down to the shell for some patches and paint. It was never on this particular tractor, but on one exactly like it that I sold. Now I'm trying to install it and tearing my hair out. When I first had it together the left deck wheel rode on the tractor tire and the tractor lift bar seemed to be torqued too far. I reveresed the lift bar on the deck and now the left deck wheel is spaced out farther than the right wheel. The right wheel and height adjuster want to rub on the tire. I'm hoping it's a simple fix but can't see what I'm doing wrong. Woodsman 3 #5 Posted July 5, 2011 I flipped the hitch bar and it seemed to give me a little room. Maybe if I straighten it I'll get a little more. I also loosened the bar for the wheels and tried to shift the whole thing over. TT, are you refering to "leveling bar" needing to be flipped? I'm thinking that the lift connection point should be more centered - or actually offset slightly toward the discharge chute so the deck is balanced when being lifted. tunahead72 2,343 #7 Posted July 5, 2011 John, It's a minor problem in the grand scheme of things, but it looks like there may be something wrong with your height adjustment mechanism as well. Does it feel sloppy at all, maybe hard to get into the lowest or highest positions? tarcoleo 119 #8 Posted July 5, 2011 At the risk of repeating TT's advice, looks like not only the hitch bar needed to be flipped end for end and straightened, so too does the "H"- shaped assembly need to be flipped so that the lift bar is just to the right side of the grease fitting of the center drive pulley. Just trying to help. I tell you, I had one of my decks apart for painting recently, and if I didn't have another to compare it to, not doubt I would have got it wrong.
