oltrucks39 0 #1 Posted June 20, 2011 Hey guys, the lining came off of my brake band. The lining seems good, so I am thinking of repairing it with JB weld, adhering the lining to the metal band, by applying the brake while it dries. Think this might work? I hate to spend 80 bucks for one new. Thanks, Matt :hide:
rmaynard 14,966 #2 Posted June 20, 2011 I would clean the inside of the brake band and the brake material to remove all grease, oil, dirt, and as much rust as possible. Then glue it back in with 100% silicone adhesive. Silicone is heat resistant and more flexible than JB. If you ever need to get it off again, silicone can be removed, JB is a bear to clean off. In either case, I would remove the band and clamp it. That way you don't run the risk of getting glue on the working surface of the brake pad or brake drum, and if you do, it's easier to clean with the brake band in your hand.
