Horse'n Around 22 #1 Posted June 17, 2011 I would sure appreciate it if you would keep my cousin Dwaine in your prayers. Im sure that Yall have heard about the fires all over AZ. Well the most recent fire which is called the "Monument" fire is over in my neck of the woods in Cochise County. His home is across Ramsey Canyon road which is where the evacuation line is currently. His home is a block north of Ramsey Canyon Rd and he will probably have to evacuate tonight or tomorrow if things keep going as it is. The fire started on Sunday and since it is so close he has been moving their belongings out since it started. Well now its a lot bigger and is "jumped" Hwy 92. The actual fire is still a ways away from the road and hopefully they can slow or stop it from advancing but the winds are lack of rain are not helping. Thankfully he has been working on removing the belongings and making sure there is a good cleared area around his property since it started but Id sure hate to see him lose his house as well as all the folks out there. Anyway, if you could keep Dwaine and the rest of those affected by all these fires in AZ in your prayers I would really appreciate it more than you can know. Thanks, John

Buzz 502 #8 Posted June 18, 2011 My nephew lives in Hereford AZ in the heart of the Monument fire.(John, you met his Mother) He had to evacuate Thursday. Haven't heard anything since then but the pictures in the paper this morning showed Hereford. Doesn't look good. Keep them all in your prayers.

Horse'n Around 22 #11 Posted June 18, 2011 Buzz, have you heard anything from your nephew yet? Ruth doesn't live in that area too does she? I heard from Dwaine a hr ago and so far so good with him however he had just received a pre evacuation order an hr earlier. He has all of what he can move moved so for now its just pray and wait and see. So far folks on his side (west) of Hwy 92 are fairing much better than those on the east side. The winds are terrible and they are fanning and spreading the fires really badly. I have a few friends that live in Hereford, one of them, Ben who's a pilot had to evacuate also, he is spending his time at Libby airfield on Ft. Huachuca working on the fire fighting aircraft. My other friend Larry has not been evacuated yet, hopefully it will stay that way. I have a friend that's a Sgt with DPS and he sent me some pics that he took on his cell phone this morning...unbelievable ! I will be sure to keep your nephew in my prayers too. They had a bit of a scary time when another fire broke out near Ft Huachuca. They were calling it the Antelope fire, evidently it was started accidentally by an army bulldozer that was clearing brush for a fire break. it spread fast but they got it under control. A couple other friends of mine were evacuated for that one but thankfully they are back in their homes now. Everyone thank you for your thoughts and prayers for all these folks, they sure can use them ! Be sure to keep the firefighters and other emergency personel in your prayers too if you will. This is going to be a long hard time for all of them too! John
Buzz 502 #12 Posted June 19, 2011 I haven't been able to contact my nephew, Terry, but will call Ruth later today to see how he's making out.. Terry lives on what I think was the Hagris Ranch (?). Ruth lives in Sierra Vista but is moving at the end of the month to St. Davids. She said to say hi when I see you at the show. Our prayers are with everyone affected by the fires. Horse'n Around 22 #14 Posted June 20, 2011 Thanks for posting the pictures Buzz,Its a bad one thats for sure, and on top of that theres still 2 or 3 more smaller ones in Cochise County as well as the one in eastern AZ too. Its been a terrible year for fires. If only the monsoons would come :hide:
Buzz 502 #15 Posted June 20, 2011 Just got this email from my sister Ruth: Hi....... Terry's been evacuated 3 days now. They're staying with friends. Daniel has been sleeping at the vet's office and is busy helping round up horses for evac. Just learned most of Nicksville (at light in Hereford on 92---I sent you pictures of the tractors in a Christmas parade years ago) is gone, and the fire has just jumped the highway on its way into Hereford. It's also moving North, and we are on alert for pre-evacuation in Sierra Vista also--no hard evac orders yet. My car is packed--just have to grab the cat--and will be going to the house in St. David. This apartment is concrete so I don't worry about it burning--just the smoke, etc. Terry brought over a lot of his things so this place is a mess!!! I'll keep you posted. The fire was declared the #1 priority in the US. Not fun!!!
