wheel boy 0 #1 Posted June 8, 2011 Hello, I got this Rj-58 sight unseen and asked him to deliver it to my place I'm taking a closer look at it and the bugger crack the hood and put this metal patch on it with a bunch of screws an now I have to turn the gas cap off with pliers . So I'm looking for the back half of the hood. Can the front part be saved and joined to the back half? Thanks Attached Image
305 380 #2 Posted June 8, 2011 to answer your question.....yes , i believe just about any sheet metal can be saved. i'm new to wheel horses , but can i assume that a hood will be hard to find thus making it expensive? if so , it may be worth the effort looking at the picture and not seeing it it person it appears to me that a patch for your existing hood could be formed out of some 18 gauge on a slip roll , with some fine tuning with a planishing hammer and maybe a shrinker/stretcher. of course ,it would then have to be welded in while keeping warping at a minimum. again , not seeing it in person it's hard to judge but i think a good metal worker could have that fixed in 3-4 hours or you as you suggested , you could just join a good back section to your front
