B-100 Restoration

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

As reported earlier, the restoration of my current B-100 has been a slow process this time around. Weather and other factors have prevented steady progress.

So here is a little fun for you.

Last year, on this date 6/7/2010, my first B-100 restoration progress looked like this:

d12c9e29.jpg

By 6/18/2010 it was done.

Now it is 6/7/2011 and here is my current progress:

What do you think my chances are of having it done for the show this year?

I expect to see a few of these :hide:

bob,

heres the :WRS: for you......

but seriously, anythings possible. looks like you already did it last year and that one turned out real nice.

from my experience the planning ahead is going to hinder you more than actually getting it done. its just work. but it needs to happen with the least amount down time as possible. but im sure you already knew that :hide:

thinking positive and getting stuck into it will help. :)

UPDATE:

The countdown clock is continuing to get closer to June 24, so here is the latest progress report, and comparison to where I was at this time last year.

June 14, 2010, here is where the 1977 B-100 was:

June 14, 2011, here is where I am currently with the 1976 B-100:

I am building a wiring harness at this time. Last year it was finished and installed.

My wheels are at the powder coater now and will be picked up tomorrow. Last year the wheels were at a different powder coater on June 16th and I couldn't get him to answer the phone. So all-in-all, I think I am just about where I was this time last year.

I've got faith! Your track record speaks for itself. Even if the last of the paint is drying while you put it on the trailer. :hide:

Here's the current problem. Since I don't have an adequate place to paint my hood and fender pan, (lots of bugs and pollen this time of year), I use the paint booth at my friends body shop. When he has an opening in the paint booth, he calls me and I run up there and shoot some paint in controlled conditions. Well my buddy just had emergency quadruple by-pass surgery 2 weeks ago. My hood and fender pan are sitting on a bench in his locked body shop. :hide:

He came back to work today, so I am hoping for a call tonight or tomorrow. Last year it was the powder coater with my wheels. It's always something. :WRS:

Guess I'll just string some more wires together until he calls.

Hope to see it at the show all finished, Bob. :hide: I know you and the wonders of "Padoras Box" will have it ready in time. Don't forget the chinese drill bits and easy outs when you come to the show because I'm dealin' with another stripped out head again. :WRS:

Ray,

Maybe you should ask Brian to load a Bridgeport in the back of his truck this time. I'm running low on Chinese bits. :WRS:

PROGRESS! :WRS:

Got the rims back from the powder coater and had the new Carlisle Turf Savers mounted.

Did a little wiring.

Installed the dash.

Got an opening in the paint shop and I will be painting the hood and fender pan later tonight. :hide:.

I love painting with acrylic urethane. After spraying the 2 medium coats within 5 minutes of each other, let it flash for 5 minutes, then turn the heat up to 140 degrees, close the door, and 1 hour later, you are done and headed back home.

Pictures tomorrow.
