Cody 243 #2 Posted June 6, 2011 Sound like the fly wheel magnets came un glued, for some reason i have had this problem with every single KT17 i have ever had. As long as the magnets are still good JB weld them back to the flywheel and your good to go. you can first verify this by unplugging the two stator wires off of the voltage regulator, take a meter and set it on AC voltage. Take the two test leads and put one on each stator wire at full throttle you should have around 30 ac volts or more. If it reads 0 its a safe bet the magnets came un glued. Shuboxlover 474 #5 Posted June 14, 2011 Most of the 416's had onans in them, with the exception of the mid 80's ones (not 100% sure on the year) that had a single Kohler. All 417's had Kohler twins. Shuboxlover 474 #6 Posted July 16, 2011 He finally got around to looking at his horse....sure enough the magnets came loose. But now he said the voltage gauge only registers about 11 volts, he hasn't actually measured it with a VOM yet, so I don't know.
