Over 60 years ago my dad owned a Garden Center, with a Toro Dealership, Snapper and a dozen other makes of machines. He belonged to a co-op of other dealers and they all shared different makes such as Jacobsen, John Deere and yep, Wheel Horse.

Why do I bring that up? Well, he was asked by a local paper to write a garden column: BOOORING. "Taking Care of Your Garden"... But my dad was one to stir controversy and he worked that into his column pitting John Deere against Toro or Scotts against Lofts. I was surprised (and a little embarrassed for him) to see that only about a dozen people a week would write in with questions or debates. But the newspaper said that response was phenomenal! On average only one in a thousand readers would write in to a newspaper. That meant my dad had a following of 10 thousand readers (in a town of only 17 thousand people) eventually he was picked up by the Newark Star Ledger and a radio show.........but I was too busy driving hot rods and chasing poodle skirts to notice..... :WRS:

TODAY..........those people that do not participate are unfortunately considered 'lurkers'...........Readers are NOT lurkers! and they should not be called that.

And controversy is not bad! One of the oldest axioms in media is "CONTROVERSY SELLS NEWSPAPERS!"

But the most important factor (in my mind) is Moderator Censorship....

I call it "Radio talk-show syndrome"....You know, where anyone that calls a radio talk show and does not agree with the big mouth talk show host is blasted and cut short, so eventually only those arse kissers that agree with the talk show host are those that call in! Radio Talk Show Syndrome.....try Rush Limbo to see what I mean.

You also have to consider the "DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE" of the average member, and of the average poster......and of course the average reader. For the most part we are all good looking men with muscular bodies and chiseled good looks and no egos whatsoever!............................... so basically, whether or not you like it...WE ARE all alike!

This is a great site..... not just because of the tractors, but because of the great feeling that we all really know each other and have a home here.

ED :disgust::hide: :)

My God, Ed!

You mean everyone on this site is like me?

"we are all good looking men with muscular bodies and chiseled good looks".

(Quote/Unquote).

You left off that we are all very young too!

My thoughts and prayers for some of you guys dealing with health problems. No one needs one, two, three or fifteen tractors. What we enjoy doing is working on a material thing. You can't do any of this stuff if you don't have your health!

Get well guys. And Kelly, I hope things settle down soon in your life!

Wow, all these posts. Like the late Dale Earnhardt used to say, "if you like me or you hate me, at least you feel something".

There isn't any way with the number of members that we have here that RedSquare will be the perfect forum for everyone. There will be things that you like and things you don't. I have been here long enough to know that there are things that I like and things I don't. Just like the rest of real life, you need to take the good with the bad.

The moderators here do their very best to keep topics on-track without over "Moderator censorship" but it is necessary to keep the peace and keep things clean enough to remain in compliance with our hosting company and general ethics.

Unfortunately, having moderators remove non-useful posts from topics isn't an appropriate use of time for them, nor is it necessary. We do try to keep things as readable here as possible without cracking down on everything.

There are probably people who don't post due to fear, but I'm sure that many of our guests are just here because they are using RedSquare as a reference site, and as for me, that's fine.

So enjoy the site for what it is, a place where people meet who share a common interest. The rest of the content is where the fun is.

I first joined this site to learn about, and maybe find parts for my tractor. It was cool in the beginning to get on here and learn of all the different attachments and see photos of most of them. Then I had a WH given to me. Then I bought another one and another one, then I was on my way to Ohio to pick up a parts tractor and ended up geytting that one and one more. then I bought another one. Dad has even bought 3 or 4. I guess what i'm trying to say is, When I joined this site it was nothing like it is now. There were people on here that could help with your problems, and maybe some extra parts to help you fix it. Then there were people that would just post things.., I think just to post things. Not a big deal. Now it seems to be alot different. I dont even get on here too much anymore. Maybe once a week. It seems like its getting to be a bunch of bickering. Arent most of us adults? I could go on but I need to go back to work. I'm sorry If I ofended anyone.

I'll second most of that. 99% of the folks here are well intended. Perhaps the delivery comes across a bit rough from time to time. Then there's the occasional wise a** who just knocks you down for no good reason. And that's when you need to recall the 99%. I'm very appreciati e of the help, praise, and ideas I've found here.

Just remember the good times. Let the BS ROLL!

I joined to glean information, ideas and :) facts and enjoy the site for all it has to offer, and share some of my experiences and technical knowledge.

I think that sometimes in the process of living that we forget that we all have different daily challenges and burdens and that we should be tolerant of those that we choose to interact with and also understand that "any day that you can get out of bed is a good day" :hide:

:WRS: I'm out of bed,the sun is shining and I need to do something productive and positive today, but it doesn't feel like a ladder,roof,gutter day :disgust:

Whoa...I almost missed the opp to boost mine too!

I haven't noticed issues either...mods do a great job keeping the site on track and for the most part members get along great. If you want to see disagreeing / rude members there are a couple of Turbo sites I can send you too. It will only take a few threads to realize how cordial members here are. There is a difference between a rude and an honest/candid response IMO. I do not see a lot of rudeness here.

My only observation is it seems a bit slow on threads...could be my imagination...or everyone is just busy.

The big show is two weeks away. :WRS: Those who are going are probably busy getting ready. It's alway slow around show time. Hmmm..... maybe I should see if my "garage queens" will start this year. Nah, what's the hurry, still two weeks left. :hide: Think I'll take a nap.

I said something about the overhead because, I don't think many people on here realize the work it takes to have and sell these parts, to answer all the emails I get, a lot of them, at this moment I have a list of 18 items I need to pull inspect and figure shipping, I don't make big money on most stuff, some bigger items I do, but not all, I don't need to be in the vendors section, I get more parts request that I can handle, I apologize to any one that it takes a few days to get back to you on parts, I do have a life outside of this stuff, I could load a semi or two up for the scrap yard and make good money at it, with scrap being $250 a ton, and go back to my family, or just sell on ebay I make more money there because bidders run the price of a $10 item up to $25, on here I charge the $10, I also try to help when I can if a question is asked, I'm not perfect, I make mistakes and I don't claim to know everything about these tractors, but I do know alot about them, I take the poking I get with a grain of salt, and try to forget it, life is to short to worry about what everyone in the world thinks about you, I know many members here don't care for me, but I try to remember who said what, and stay away from commenting on that persons post, I don't always type what is in my mind, I'm not good at putting in writing what I'm thinking, so things I say get taken the wrong way, I think that has happened alot here lately and maybe I need to take a break from this place.

Not that anyone cares but right now my wife has to take care of her Mom she had a stroke a year ago, and can't talk, and is paralyzed on her right side, my step father in law fell on the ice and tore up his shoulder and had to have surgery and needs help, so my wife had to line up 24 hour care at the house for them, to help on cost my great wife goes over every night after she gets out of work from 5pm to 9pm, and she spends almost the whole weekend there, I take care of the kids here do laundry, dishes help with shopping, run the kids to practices ect..... so sorry if I seem a bit serious my life is a mess right now, I'm not asking for sympathy just letting you know, I have alot going on in my life, way more than these tractors, I'm very very busy, and in my spare few min. I set in a chair and get on here to relax but that is getting hard to do, with all the crap here, I know many people don't care for me, but like I said it don't bother me much, you all have a good day, I have a yard to mow and a list of other stuff to do.

And the only intentional post counting I do, is in the welcome section I say Welcome to every member that shows up, those are gratis post counts

AMEN :WRS::hide: :)

Sorry to hear that Mike, thought for a while you were going to make it. See if you can hook up with "Lucky" Bruce Marin. Use your Air Force connections and have the eye in the sky look for the largest herd of 'Horses in California. They're his.
