How do I tell what engine I have?

Recommended Posts

G-PAs Toy

It is in a Work Horse 700. It is a Tecumseh and I think I have been told it was a H60, but can't remember. It gave up on me last summer. I tore it apart yesterday and found the connecting rod had broke. Other than a lot of carbon build up on the valves and piston the old motor looked pretty good inside. Are parts like that still available?

We have a vendor here that has some Tecumseh parts, check there and if the orig. engine it should be a 7hp there should be a ID tag bolted to the block below the exh. port, and another on the blower housing, that one will have a set of numbers like H60, HH60 or H70, HH70 look for that.

If the engine is original it would be a H70-130042 or a H70-130043. Here's a general service manual for the Tecumseh which might help you.

I found the tag, it is a H-70. Try to get the rest of the numbers a little later. Thanks guys. Who is the vendor?
