i put a nice 8 horse kohler on and hooked everything up and ran it for a few minutes,just needs a belt and its ready to go.

there you go, make sure you use the right ign. switch on that 12hp I see it has electronic ign. it must be a late 60's early 70's engine.

What other modifacations, alterations did you need to do to get that 8hp Kohler on the tractor. My nephew might be doing the same on a 606 sometime later this year.

no major mods,i mounted the battery under the seat and a gas tank on the dash tower .the motor bolted right on and i used a L bracket for the electrical.the tractor did not come with a belt guard so i do not know if the origanal one would work or not.

If it was a starter gen engine the batt. would fit, the belt guard from a tucky will NOT fit a Kohler with out mods, so look for a short frame tractor belt guard from a Kohler it will bolt on, even one from a round hood kohler powered will fit, and the kohler powered tractors the gas tank goes on the dash tower, with a single band holding it in place.

on the tecumseh tractor belt guard the tab where it bolts to the engine is sticking strait out but on a kohler the tab gos up. i can get you a few pics if you would like. :thumbs:
