Pollack Pete 2,273 #1 Posted April 4, 2011 OK.During the Winter,I thought my sickness was going away.Spring is here and the illness is back.We took a ride to New Jersey on Saturday and bought this 1981 GT-2500 from RS member Coles Dad.I know some of you will look down your noses at this because it has a Briggs engine and not a Kohler, but it's so clean I had to buy it.I also got a super clean 42 inch RD deck,2 plastic WH wheel weights, and 2 rear inner tubes.Nice guy, that Coles Dad. jpmcleod 4 #7 Posted April 4, 2011 I have always heard that the valve stem goes on the inside so based on that, the fronts are on backwards. Anyway, nice looking tractor.

SAM58 30 #11 Posted April 5, 2011 Really nice tractor One of a kind. I like the older Briggs, keep the oil changed and it will last. :wh:
JC 1965 1,528 #12 Posted April 5, 2011 Nice looking tractor. I have had several brigg's engines over the years, always had good luck with them.
SNYFIX 12 #13 Posted April 5, 2011 Did like those Silver Anniversary models w/the silver decals. Biggest problem with the Briggs engine was the pre-load PTO bearing. If the engine pulley loosened up, (which happened alot) the drive pulley will eat away at the crankshaft keyway slot as well as the crankshaft itself. We wished WH would've come back w/ a similar model only with a elec PTO instead of discontinuing the line. How many of you would pay something like $2,999. for that tractor w/ a (lesser quality) mower deck ??
