SAM58 30 #1 Posted April 1, 2011 Found this thing setting about 5 miles from the house. Set out and did not run for 2 -3 years... after about an hour of trouble shooting, small wiring fix, started right up. No smoke or noise. I figured if it did not run could get some good parts. It runs good, transmission is strong, needs a hub. Everything works except the head lights Now i have a restore to do. After a new battery, oil change & filter, Transmission oil & filter, bulbs for the gauges, have $300.00 in it so far.

mcwh1950 2 #3 Posted April 1, 2011 Sam. Just to let you know you belt for the deck is on the wrong pulley. It should be on the inside pulley.
JC 1965 1,528 #4 Posted April 1, 2011 :wh: Wow that's great, another one saved. I'll never understand why some people just set these tractors out to rust, when they won't start or run poorly. They should sell them or get them fixed if they can't fix them. Looks like this tractor is in really good shape. Nice find!!
SAM58 30 #5 Posted April 1, 2011 Sam. Just to let you know you belt for the deck is on the wrong pulley. It should be on the inside pulley. Yep, I seen that, but i knew it was coming off anyway. They called it a Garden Horse? If you had seen where it came from, you would wonder if they even know it runs on gas. Real Dumas... They had their yard decorated with car bodies, Frido bags.... worst of all, a shitload of Murrays. Ha! The Very Bottom Pictures are after a couple days of cleaning and scraping. The oil was BLACK and THICK. drain & ran a gallon on diesel though it, let it set and drain. put some new oil in ran it about 5 minutes and drained again. Cleaned up pretty good. Main thing I need is a HUB. thanks

farmer 1,075 #9 Posted April 5, 2011 It really is quite amazing..... some peoples attitude to money and ownership. The PO, even if he didn't buy the tractor new, would surely recognise a "top of the range type machine", a little bit of homework was all that was needed. Never mind his loss is your gain The black paint job boarders on vandalism. Good for you for saving it. :wh:
