It wont get used a lot but it will need to have a good close up setting. stevasaurus 23,274 #4 Posted March 28, 2011 I have a Fujifilm Finepix S2000 HD. Probably around $400, but it does everything a SLR would do plus video. mowerman1193 42 #7 Posted March 28, 2011 I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-P200. Not sure how much it was as it was a fathers day gift from about 5 years ago. Most everyone that has seen it really likes it as it does great pictures and does continuous video. Not sure if they are still like this or not but some of the older cameras say they do video but it is only short clips not actual video like mine does. I have had a few digital cameras in the past and they all ate batteries like there is no tomorrow..This one I have has a battery pack and it last a loooooong time. I take a lot of pictures as I sell my crafts online and good pictures are important for this. I only have to charge this camera about 3 times a year..I won't go back to a AA or AAA battery camera again..I have seen some cameras now that have a battery pack but you can also use regular batteries if the pack goes dead while your out with out your charger. I have never had a issue though as i just try to make certain it is charged good before I go to shows etc.. Best of luck on whatever you choose. theoldwizard1 2 #8 Posted March 28, 2011 Another vote for Canon . Most of the Canon cameras have very similar controls. They have a "point and shoot" mode and more "other modes" (including almost full manual) than most folks will ever use. Megapixels don't tell the whole story. Also "digital zoom" is a marketing gimmick. Make certain it has a "macro" mode (very close close ups). I would pay extra for "image stabilization" (anti-shake). Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted March 29, 2011 We have used Kodak ones for years, we like the batt. life we get with them, but I did buy my wife a Cannon Rebel SLR about a grand with the extra lens, but my sons $89 Kodak factory refubished, go to Kodaks web site, take VERY nice photos. T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #12 Posted March 29, 2011 I have an old Kodak, only 3.1 mega pixels, but it's been very reliable, takes good pictures and is as durable as they come. My daughter had a Canon and it only lasted a few months, but she did get another one that seems to be lasting longer. If I needed a new camera, I probably go with another Kodak.
