kloe0699 12 #1 Posted March 18, 2011 I had been looking for a sled for ice fishing. It's a one owner and the guy only rode it a handfull of times. New plugs and a carb cleaning and it runs like new! Now I just need some ice.
mavfreak 11 #2 Posted March 18, 2011 I love thoughs old ski doos. I had an 80 blizzard 5500 that thing was to fast for the sled! On a hole shot and acrossed a 1 mile feild I beat a 96 yamaha 600. We had someone stand out there about 1/2 way and thats when you cut out I had to do that cause you couldn't get that beast to whow frorm top speed. Loved it. Then sold it and wanted one ever since. That one there is nice! great find!

Horse'n Around 22 #5 Posted March 19, 2011 Being from SE Arizona basically my whole life, I know pretty much nothing about snowmobiles ....except that they look like a LOT of fun to ride As clueless as I am where they are concerned, that looks to be in incredible shape. Do snowmobiles use 2 strokes engines? They look like they might. Being a motocrosser since the mid 70's I absolutely love 2 strokes, both riding bikes with them and working on them. Nice find! mr.pipes 4 #6 Posted March 19, 2011 Do snowmobiles use 2 strokes engines? They look like they might. Being a motocrosser since the mid 70's I absolutely love 2 strokes, both riding bikes with them and working on them. Nice find! John Before Yamaha came out with the four-stroke RX1 in 2002, most snowmobiles were typically two strokes. Other companies followed suite and added four-stroke machines. Others have significantly reduced two-stroke emissions with new technology. John, They are a ton of fun to ride. If you get the chance to ride one, you will love it. It's incredible how hard some sleds pull considering you are riding on snow. Unfortunately I don't get to ride as much any more. I could sell you one of them if you want.
can whlvr 994 #7 Posted March 20, 2011 im a canadian and sleds are practicallt a way of life in the country, they are a blast to ride, one of my friends has a 1000 cc 4stroke yamaha, the thing is a widow maker, ive riden alot of dirrerent toys and nothing has the pull that thing has,all cleated up and that much track y have alot of traction to weight ratio, far more than a bike and i owned a 1100 yamaha,it was fast but not even in the same park as the sled, have fun with the citation, its a classic like the horses
rydogg 186 #8 Posted March 21, 2011 That Citation is a nice well taken care of sled its hard to find an old sled with a seat and hood in that kind of condition. Those old Ski-doos were a well built reliable machine, I used own a 1978 Blizzard 6500 plus that was super light and could take most of todays sleds out of the whole until it reached top speed and it only had a 340cc motor (354cc to be exact) it was fun to race the guys with the newer 600cc and bigger sleds and beat them they always assumed I had some huge motor stuffed under the hood until I would show them the little 340cc. I have a friend that owns a 2003 RX1 Yamaha he let me try it out just a couple weeks ago and WOW!! the power is amazing I have owned several large Arctic Cat 2 stroke triples and they were nothing compared to this 4 stroke 1000cc machine, electric start, reverse, no mixed gas smell, easy on gas, the only downside I can see is that they are heavy. mavfreak 11 #11 Posted March 22, 2011 I think my Blizzard had a rotax 496cc twin in it. and I think they called it a 480
kloe0699 12 #12 Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks guys! I couldn't believe it when I first saw it. I had it sitting on the edge of the driveway but I had to put it in the shed. People keep trying to buy it!!! I just have to fab up a mount for my ice auger on the back and I think I am going to put wide ski skins on to make it better in the deep stuff. The only problem I am having is the muffler is turning the side of the hood white.. It's on correctly, would it be from the ethanol burning hotter than 1981 gas did? Any ideas?
