Huh?

Don't quite understand the symptom. Are you sure it's not just the engine surging? In low range it wouldn't be as noticeable in terms of motion as in high range.

Had a tractor once that did the same (not a WH)

There was two things wrong:

The input pulley on the transmission was loose and the key in the shaft had worn out the pulley, and one of the hubs was worn too, the axle could turn almost 1/4 turn before it would "catch up" with the hub.

It felt just like the tractor would jump in and out of gear while mowing.

Yep thats the same thing this one is doing.

The drive belt is probably worn out. Change the belt and hold on tight!

I bet the original one is on there. the last owner didn't take very good care of this thing. Hood hinges are egg-shaped. :thumbs:

Go for your hubs as someone mentioned. They're wallered out along w/the axle key and possibly the axle keyway as well. You might get lucky tho and just need a hub tight'in up !!
