trying to identify

I have this serial # 27911 Trying to figure out if this a 753 or 854. The shroud on engine is K181S. I believe i have a 753 with an 8hp kohler. Unless the 8hp shroud fits on a 7hp and it was changed. If so is there a way to tell the 7hp from the 8hp buy visual. Thanks

What are you trying to identify - the tractor or the engine ~ or both?

There's lots of differences between the 753 and 854 models, and the quickest to spot is the battery box. On 1963 models, it was welded to the frame, and it bolted to the frame on 1964 models.

The engine is a little tougher to ID from the outside. Have any pictures?

Ok . Battery box is welded in. I was pretty sure it was a 753 so now i guess i'm trying to figure out what engine is in it. It does not have the external coil mounted in front of the engine like it should. Or a fuel pump.

What are the numbers on the engine tag?

It's definitely "newer" due to the coil mounting bosses cast into the "bump" over the camshaft gear, but since the 161 & 181 engines both ended up with those mounts, you'll probably have to pull the head and measure the stroke for a positive ID.
